The City on a Hill in a Troubled World

  • Northcote Uniting Church 251 High Street Northcote, VIC, 3070 Australia (map)

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14

It’s a complicated time. At the request of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress, the UCA marks a Day of Mourning. On the 22nd there was a national day of mourning for the victims of the anti-Semitic terror attack in Bondi, called by the Prime Minister.

There is a lot to mourn. What does it mean for us to be a community of reconciliation in a world beset by sin and grief?

Every Tuesday evening we gather together to talk about what it means to be Jesus’ disciples in contemporary Melbourne. Sometimes that’s a Bible Study, sometimes something more thematic, and sometimes something more reflective.

We eat together at 7pm - bring your own dinner, or buy something from one of the many takeaway options on the street - and the “serious bit” begins at 8. We’re done by 9:15
