He came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him. When he reached the place, he said to them, ‘Pray that you may not come into the time of trial.’ Then he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed, ‘Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet, not my will but yours be done.’
Luke 22:39-42
This coming Tuesday our Missional Spirituality Pastor, Anne Pate, will lead us in prayerful reflection on the theme of Finding God in a Suffering World. The Christian tradition affirms that God is always present: in all of creation and in every part of our experience. We are invited to notice, to become awake to the presence of God in all of reality. "Finding God" is really about noticing God's activity in the world and letting God find us. Yet it can be especially hard to find God in the midst of suffering, both our own suffering and the suffering of the world. Let us come together to open ourselves to new ways of encountering God in the midst of suffering.
Every Tuesday evening we gather together to talk about what it means to be Jesus’ disciples in contemporary Melbourne. Sometimes that’s a Bible Study, sometimes something more thematic, and sometimes something more reflective.
We eat together at 7pm - bring your own dinner, or buy something from one of the many takeaway options on the street - and the “serious bit” begins at 8. We’re done by 9:15
