"Social Action" meets monthly to give an opportunity for concerned people to learn about key issues of justice affecting society and to take action together to bring about a more just, equitable, sustainable and inclusive world.
Activities include letter writing, visits to Parliamentarians, petitions and attendance at rallies.
Recent actions include letters to the Federal Government re. vilification of Lebonese immigrants and cruel long term detention of refugees and asylum seekers at Manus Island and Nauru, to the State Government re. plastic waste and to Darebin Council supporting the renaming of Batman Park and the Batman electorate.
Northcote Uniting Church- Chalice supports the Social Action Group in its activities. Justice is one of the four key pillars which informs Chalice's philosophy.
